How to Get and Use a Free Carpool Parking Permit at GO Stations
Free Carpooling parking is a great way to save money, reduce traffic, and help the environment. If you drive to a GO Station with passengers, you can get a for free carpool parking permit, which gives you access to special parking spots. Here’s everything you need to know about applying for and using these permits.
Who Can Get a Carpool Parking Permit?
- You must drive to a participating GO Station with at least one passenger.
- Your station must offer carpool parking (some stations have long waitlists and are not accepting new applications, see below).
- The permit allows you to park in designated carpool spots before 9:30 a.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).

Currently, these stations have long waiting lists and are not accepting new applications:

- Apply for a free permit – Fill out the application form online or at the station.
- Display the permit in your car – Hang it on your rearview mirror when using a carpool spot.
Rules for Using Carpool Parking
- First-come, first-served – Having a permit doesn’t guarantee a spot, so arrive early.
- Only valid before 9:30 a.m. – You can’t use these spots after that time.
- Must have at least one passenger – No solo driving!
- Permit must be visible – If you don’t display it, you could get a ticket or be towed.
- Report misuse – If you see someone parking illegally in a carpool spot, call Customer Protective Services at 1-877-297-0642.

Why Carpool? Benefits Beyond Parking
- Save on gas and parking fees – Fewer cars mean lower costs.
- Reduce stress – Share the driving with others.
- Help the planet – Fewer cars = less pollution.
If your station has a waiting list, consider other carpool options or public transit.
By following these guidelines, you can make the most of GO Transit’s carpool parking program while contributing to a smoother commute for everyone.
